Guilds

The Altar at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, West Plains, Missouri.

Acolytes

From the Greek word “akoloutheo” meaning to follow or obey. Our acolytes assist the priest at the altar in many aspects of our worship service. In doing so they learn more fully the liturgy of the church. All young people are invited to join in this ministry. The age of readiness to be an acolyte varies.

All Saints’ Choir

The choir serves occasionally and for special services. It is open to voices of all ages and is under the direction of Sherry Lockett. Practice is pulled together as needed and typically after the 10:30 worship service.

All Saints’ Day celebration

A tradition at All Saints. We gather to celebrate our name day and the many ministries of this church and her people.

Altar Guild

The altar is tended to by a group of volunteers who make sure that the altar is prepared for Eucharistic services on Sundays and any special services. To join, just ask!

Chalice Bearers/Lay Readers

This ministry is open to all baptized members 16 and older. Training is available from the Rector. The lessons may be read by anyone interested in doing so. Youth are encouraged to read the lessons!

Diocesan Convention Delegates

Two delegates and one alternate are elected to represent All Saints at the annual Diocesan Convention. These delegates are encouraged to attend meetings of the Southern Deanery, as they are able.

Flower Ministry

Flowers on the altar are organized with the help of the Altar Guild. If you would like to donate the flowers as a memorial or thanksgiving, please place your name on the flower chart in the entryway. Further instructions appear there. Questions? Call the church at (417) 256-2215 or talk to a member of the Altar Guild.

Lenten Wednesdays

Soup for supper at 6 p.m. and an ecumenical service at 7 p.m. are shared with five other churches (First Christian, First United Methodist, First Presbyterian, St. Mary’s Catholic, and St. Paul’s Lutheran) each Wednesday during Lent.

Watch for a schedule of services.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

5 to 7 p.m. This is our traditional feast for Mardi Gras before we begin to fast on Ash Wednesday. There are opportunities from advertising to set up to cooking to serving to clean up. The supplies needed are mostly donated and the money raised is used to support youth programs.

Sunday School

Currently, Sunday School for all ages is at 9:30 a.m. Adults meet in the parish hall and have a variety of topics. Younger children enjoy lessons and art from the “Godly Play” series.

Maintenance Team

This team is lead by the Junior Warden and oversees the maintenance needs of our buildings and grounds. See Junior Warden, Don Fields, for more information.

Vestry

A six-member board elected by the people of All Saints’ Church. Vestry members are elected to a three-year term with three members being elected at every annual meeting. The Vestry attends to the business of the church. All Baptized members 16 years of age and over are eligible to serve on the Vestry.
